Ok first of all congratulations on buying this game it is really great ok here is a tip to find a potion called starflare vial i think.
Go to new brightwater and go to the lighthouse if you can, go inside and go to the cupboard hopefully it'll say (A)open if it does press a to open aqnd you will get a starflare vial or some other potion if you dont get that!

to defeat the robot machine in elco's town let it follw you round wait 'til it goes into the centre and hit it. Move out the way because it'll attack as it recovers hit it again do this continually

i found that while fighting the robot in elco's town the best thing to do is stay upfront right infront of the eyes you can move when he swats at you and then you can shoot the eye right before he shoots the red ray out of his eyes continue to do that and you should have him
