Cheat CodesMini racers:
Select the Mario Kart GP mode. Hold Y and press A at the character selection screen to shrink your racer. Alternatively, highlight a character and press A + B + X + Y.
150cc class:
Win a gold in the Mushroom, Flower, and Star Cup races in the 100cc class followed by a gold in the Special Cup race. A 150cc class option will appear on the class selection screen.
Race a ghost CPU:
Select the One Player Time Trial mode. Press Start on controller two at the player selection screen. The word "COM" will flash in one of the boxes above the drivers. Use controller two to choose the CPU player, then choose your player and start game play.
Race yourself:
Select Time Trial mode, choose a character and begin game play. Finish the race with a first place time. Select the "Retry" option to race against yourself.
Switch screens:
Begin a One Player Grand Prix race and press B on controller two. Select a One Player game with controller two. Hold L + R and press Start on controller two. Select the class, driver, and track with controller two and begin game play.
Rotate screens:
Enter Time Trial mode, choose a character and begin racing. During game play, do not hit anything or fall off the track. Select the "Retry" option after the race. Press R and L to rotate the screen.
Rear view mirror:
Select One Player Time Trial or Mario Kart GP modes. Press X during game play.
Extra credits:
Finish three races in the same position.
Drive in the dark:
Begin game play in Battle Mode. When a player has one balloon remaining, hold B until losing a life. The player may continue to race in the dark.
Map on top:
Plug a controller into port two. Power on the SNES. Highlight one player mode on the main menu. Hold L + R and press Start(2). Select the engine class, driver, and track. Begin game play to race with the map on top and the race screen on the bottom.
Disable music:
Rapidly tap Start until the music ends. The game will continue with only sound effects until a star is used.
Special cup tracks:
Select Time Trial mode, choose a racer, and press Left to highlight the Mushroom Cup. Press L, R, L, R, L(2), R(2), A. A Special cup option will appear under the Star cup.
Turbo start:
Hold B just as the Lakitu's first light flashes.
Reset all saved data:
Press L + R + Y + A at the title screen.
Reset race times:
Press L + R + Y + A at the appropriate time trial.
Hint: Stay in control:
If you hit a banana or other slippery object, hold A + B. If done correctly, a music note (eighth or double eighth) will appear and you will not slip and be able continue driving normally.
Hint: Item tricks:
Bananas: Press Up and fire to shoot the banana a good distance ahead instead of laying it behind you.
Green Turtle Shell: Press Down and fire to plant it behind you instead of shooting it out.
Feather: Save it on the Ghost Valley on mushroom cup. Instead of turning after the long speed bump, go straight ahead and use it to leap to the extended ledge and get to the finish line faster.

At the select character screen, press the x and a buttons at the same time. The charachter will shrink as if hit by lightning.
Note:
Be careful when playing in mini mode, the other charachters are still big and you could get squashed. (To turn it off, press x and a again). | |

1. GHOST DRIVER:
On the Time Trials you can race a Ghost Driver of the best time on that track. Race the track first, and make sure you don't hit any walls or pause. When you are finished, go to RETRY, (you can also change drivers) and race the track again. The Kart with the best time on the track should be a ghost! Using the Ghost Driver, you can race against your best time, or your friend's best time!
You can also bring in a computer controlled Ghost Driver if you press any button on controller two when you're choosing your driver.
2. TURBO BOOST:
If you hold the B Button down just right at the start of the race, you can get a turbo off the line! Do this by waiting for the first light to turn on and just before the second light comes on, hold down the B button and let the engine rev. If you can time it just right, you'll get a super turbo off the starting line!!! Each character revs differently so try experimenting with all the Karts.
3. ERASE DATA:
If you want to erase and reset all the best times and GP Data, at the title screen, press L, R, Y, & A simultaneously. This will take you to the Reset Mode. If you want to erase the times only, then use the same code on each Time Trial run.
4. ANGLE VISION:
When watching the REPLAY of a Time Trial you just finished, you can change the angles of your view by pressing the L or R buttons.
Note: In order for the Angle Vision to work, you'll need to complete the Time Trial without hitting any of the walls.

Description:
This trick lets view the Time Trial that you've just finished.
Instructions:
Finish any Time Trial without any mistakes (which means you can't bump a wall or object). Then choose the replay option.
Note: As you watch the "film" of your Time Trial, you can make the camera swing around your cart by pressing the L or R Button.

Description:
This trick allows you to see your racer on the bottom half of the screen rather than the top when you are racing in 1-Player Grand Prix mode.
Instructions:
With Controller 2, while you select a 1-Player game in Grand Prix mode hold the L and R Buttons. Select your class, driver, and track. Begin your race, and you will be at the bottom of the screen.

Description:
This trick allows you to race a computer opponent in the time trial mode without risk of a collision.
Instructions:
On Controller 1, begin a 1-Player Time Trial. When you come to the driver select screen, press Start on Controller 2. Select a driver with Controller 2, and then select a driver with Controller 1. Begin the race by pressing Start on Controller 1, and you will be racing against a cpu player.

Description:
This code gives you access to the "Special Cup" tracks in the time trials.
Instructions:
Enter the time trials and select your racer. Then push Left on your controller to move the cursor beside "Mushroom Cup." Then press L, R, L, R, L, L, R, R and A. You should then see "Special Cup" appear below "Star Cup."

don | Shrinking Racers
Description:
This allows you to shrink your racer before a race. The only way to make him big once again is to hit a mushroom dropped by the princess. This does not give you a game play advantage.
Instructions:
On the player select screen, before choosing your driver, highlight his box and simultaneously press Y and A. He will shrink down to size, and then you can select him and start the race. This does work for 1 or 2 players.
Note:
This will not work in Time Trials or Battle Mode.
