you need the net, pegesus boots, and at least one bottle for this ,In the light world, instead of buying potions, standing in front of the withches house, go left and up, you should still be able to see the witches house, then go left, defeat the one enemy, then ram the tree, a fairy will appear, catch it with the net, a message will appear asking you if you wish to keep it in a bottle or set it free. the advantage to this is the potions are activated manually only, if you have a bottled fairy, if you die, you will come back to life in the exact place you died.

get the flute
in the light world, go to the village, go to the top left part of town and go into the lost woods, go up and take your first left, use the hammer to beat a peg, then hit the rock and a portal to the dark world will appear, go to the circle of trees south of town, talk to the guy sitting on the stump and he will give you a shovel, dig around in the circle until you find his flute, talk to him and he will just give it to you, use the magic mirror to trasnport back to the light world. talk to the man in the bar, go back to the dark world. back to the circle of trees, and talk to the guy sitting on the stump again, play the flute for him, then he will freeze. go back in to the light world, play the flute then a bird will fly over you and pick you up, dont try to aviod it. then choose the location you want to go and he will take you there.
