to switch characters
1) you must first get close enough to someone to ask them to join your tribe, they must agree for this to work
2)they must be in a different area than you
3)hold in "L", and then use the directional pad to hit "left" or "right" while still holding in "L"
4) the character's icon should pop up, choose the desired character, and hit "X"
NOTE: this is not a cheat, it is given in the instruction book with the game. However, some people have been asking how, and i thought this might help
