Game Details
Namco's latest 3-D racing game is a visual showcase for the PlayStation®2 computer entertainment system platform. Ridge Racer V's smooth, beautiful and outstanding visual images have been achieved through the intense use of Gouraud techniques and the improved 3-D polygon-rendering power available. Translucent glass, landscapes reflected on the car body and background, a diverse range of lighting effects, tire smoke during hard-braking and tail-slides, and sparks from car bodies rubbing each other all vie for your attention. Highly detailed racecourses and buildings, shimmering heat waves, and improved distance perspective create a realistic space for players to race in.

Cheat Codes
Third person view onscreen display: Hold Select when racing in the third person perspective to display onscreen information that includes the amount of pressure being used on various controller buttons.
Pac-Man mode: Exceed 3,000 kilometers in total distance raced to unlock a red roadster with a Pac-Man driver. Ghosts on scooters will race against the Pac-Man car.
Control intro sequence: Press L1 and R1 during the introduction sequence to cycle through three different effects for the portion that uses the in-game graphics. Press R1 for black and white graphics. Press R1 a second time and the graphics will have a yellow tint. Press R1 a third time to add blur effect, which will eliminate jagged graphics. Press L1 to cycle back through the various effects.
Duel mode: Finish in first in lap and overall time in the Standard Time Attack GP.
50's Super Drift Caddy: Finish in first on the Danver Spectra race in duel mode to open the 50's Super Drift Caddy car in free run, time attack, and duel mode.
Devil Drift: Finish in first on the Rivelta Crinale race in duel mode to open the Devil Drift car in free run, time attack, and duel mode.
VW Beetle: Finish in first on the Solort Rumeur race in duel mode to open the new style VW Beetle car (with super grip handling) in free run, time attack, and duel mode.
McLaren F1 clone: Finish in first on the Kamata Angelus race in duel mode to open the McLaren F1 clone in free run, time attack, and duel mode.
99 lap mode: Set the top score in each race of the Time Attack GP in Extra Mode, finishing in first.
