I've read three different alternatives that you can use to cheat:
hold Shift and ctrl then type the cheat
Hit SHIFT and the tilde key (above the TAB key)
when the game is running and enter the following cheats.
Opening the Password Screen

Hi your cheats dont work, i open the game into free ride iam sitting in the taxi, i press the SHIFT KEY AND THE TILDE KEY< NOTHING HAPPENS WHAT AM I GOING TO DO
