CSM101's hints for the impossible mode in dead space(may be applicable to hard mode as well)


Boss fights:-

[1] Brute
This is only applicable to the first brute you will encounter in the bridge area.
before you enter the bridge for the firt time buy a flame thrower. you sould have about 200 ammo
for the flame thrower.(125 in the gun and 75 in a slot). use the steps where the save station for your
advantage. get the brute out of the hiding by moveing forward and as soon as it comes to you,
move back word. the gap between you and the brute should be like 4/5 feet. when you go down the
first step it will turn and go back to its hiding posistion. as soon as it turns fire a short
brust to its back. do this untill the all 200 is used on its back. now use your line gun (it should
be haveing medium level damage upgrade by now). about 24 shots will require. make sure all the shots
land on its back fully.

For all the other brutes, just use stasis and the flam thower (about 150 flame ammo will require). and then 3/4 shots
from the line gun. if done properly after 3 stasis instances the bruet will die. you need a bit of
running between the stasis instances to avoid the brute's attacks (in this case the stasis is not in any upgraded mode)

[2]Hunter

even though the hunter is not an official boss, it still poses a huge threat.

>when you first meat it just stasis it untill kendra opens the door
>when you meat it for the second time just use stasis on it and try to kill other enemies. as soon
as you kill all the others, kendra will open the door.
>when you meat it for the third time just use stasis in side the cryo chamber and run to the controll room.
then activate the cryogenic machine to freez it.then deals with other enemies.
>when you meat it for the forth time just kill all the other enemies while stasis or dismembering its legs.
only when all the others are dead kendra will open the door.
>when you meat it for the fifth time, just run out of the controll room and go directly behind the shuttle's engine.
ones it comes to you stasis it and run to the controll room and start the shuttle's engine. it'll be terminated this time.



[3] Leviathan.

you should be haveing 1 large medpack, 3 medium medpacks, about 75 plasma ammo and about 30 line
gun ammo. Both guns should be maxed out in terms of damage or nearly there. the levethian get activated
when you move forward about 4 steps. so befor doing that
grab all the usefull stuff in the room useing kenisis(line racks ,plasma ammo etc). onec it get activated move back word.
it will start moving one of its tenticals towrds you. use this time to fire a good single shot to the
yellow spot in the tentical. now you will see the tentical is landed in eihter left or right side of you.
as soon as that happens do a zero G jump strait above.as soon as your controll of the clark is restored,
use the time to put 1 -2 shots on the yellow spot. now wait till another tentical moves towards you.
repeat what you did initally. for this section of the fight use your plasma cutter.
after you have beaten all 3 - 4 tenticals the fight moves to the second stage.

quickly get the line gun and as soon as it opens it mouth start fireing to its yellow spot inside.
the mouth will put out yellow exploding stuff that if you hit them as soon as they come out from the
mouth, it will go back in to the mouth and explode.if you miss and yellow stuff quickly move to either side
and keep on moveing untill the mouth stop putting out the yellow stuff. then wait untill it open its mouth
again the start the fireing.this phase will be over when you see the tenticals back again.now its the
final stage.

in this phase the enemy will try to hit you with the yellow stuff and with its tenticals. the trick is
to avoid tentical attacks by doing zero G jumps as in the first phase and then shoot yellow spot in side
the mouth. do not try to shoot its tenticals.

if your are wondering why then you need all that medpacks is simply becouse even when you do a zero G
jump to avoid the tentical attacks, sometimes they hit you. and when that happens you get a huge damage.
make sure that your health is always in the blue color.


[4] Hive mind

Befor figthing with this final boss i had the followngs
[1]5 large medpacks
[2]2 medium medpacks
[3] 2 samll medpacks
[4] stasis fully charged.
[5] line gun maxed out and extra 12 line ammo
[6] plasma gun maxed out and about 60 extra ammo

the major attack that you should avoid is the large tenticale attackes that slam to the ground. what i did was move left and right in random
foot steps. 5 right, 3 left, go to extream left, 4 right is just an example. if you can avoid all of its tenticale attackes this fight is very easy to win.
befor staring the fight you brab all the pick up creates you can using kenisis.

phase 1
onec the battle start and you are in controll, start moveing left and right all the while watching the damn tenticals. after 2/3 attackes it will bring doen its ugly
face to you to screem. now its your chance to attack those outter yellow pods with the plasma gun. hit 3 shots and reload and then start moveing. repeat this untill you have
distroyied 3 out of 5 yellow pods. allways watch your health and make sure the color is blue. after you have distroyied 3 outer pods it will grab you and hand you in the air.
now you have to distroy the other 2 while you are up side down. what i did was just shoot at the them. you have to distroy the first 3 pods in a such a way that the last two
are next to each other. this will help you when you are up side down.

phase 2
once you distroyed the remaining 2 pods it will drop you and once you are almost recoverd, it wil drop 2 pods rihgt in front of you, take out the line gun and ready to say "hi"
to 2 pregnands. use you stasis and get rid of them as fast as you can. becouse while you try to kill the pregnants the hive mind eihter try to salm you with its tenticals or
it will drop yellow explods just like the Leviathan. avoid these and once your done switch to the plasma cutter. now it will hit you with its tenticals about 3/4 times befor
exposing its belly. the yellow pods in side the belly is your new targets. destroy one by one(total of 5) while avoiding the tenticals and the random exploding pods.

thats it , you have kicked the ass of this game for good. enjoy the rewards after the credits roles. (military suit, 10 power nodes and 50000 credits) :D


Other important stuff

[1] always use stasis on enemies befor attacking, it dosen't matter if you are facing a single enemy or multiple enemies.
for this usually what you have to do is alwasy make sure that you have access to a stasis machine(s) in
any level of the game. by clearing a path to the stasis machine after every fight you can go back
and refill your stasis. even though this may look like wasted time, in impossible mode this is very
important. so i always did clear the path to the nearest stasis mahice when ever a one is avilabe in a
level.dont waste stasis/ammo on the Wheezers(the ones that put out poison air)just use your feet to stomp on them.
when there is no stasis chargers manage your stasis with stasis refill packs very carefully.


[2] when you upgrade the guns first try to upgrade the damage in the shortest path. you don't need
to upgrade the flame thrower.once guns are fully upgraded in the damage area do the upgrades to the
rig's health.no need to upgrade the rigs air.

[3] when you are in a room with fully intact human bodies, stomp them untill they are fully dismembered.
usually when there are bodies the infectors come and turn them to super slashers.

[4] Never shoot to the belly of a pregnant necormoph. it will spawn a swarm.

[5] When facing multiple enemies force them to come via a single vent when possible. this is not
always possible but there are situations that you can do that.
example instances:-
>befor activating the gravity in the "in to the void" level open the near by door with a power node.
then activate it and quickly run in to the room and trun right. now turn 180 to face the roof vent
all the enemies except for the pregnant will come one after another via that vent.no need of stasis here.

>when you retrieve the marker. when multiple enemies got spawned, quickly run to the lift and go up.
all the able enemies will come via a single vent opposite of the lift.

>when you pass the laser that functioning incorrectly and open up the next door ,wait till you
hear the sound of a exploder. quickly back track to the other side by stasising the laser and don't
go beyond the door that allow you to enter the laser room. just wait in the door. all the enemies
will come one after another via a vent and get bunrned by the laser.



[6] when you are facing mixed enemies and if the mix contains exploders eihter kill the exploder when others are behind
or in side ways with it by shooting the yellow pod or kill the exploder while preserving its exploding pod. when others comes near it stasis them
and shoot the exploding pod. this usually kill 2/3 enemies.

[7] when in a sealed room due to temporaraly containment always run and pick enemies from a different side. when possible
use exploders (if there are in) for your advantage.

[8] Save the game when you finished a fight. this may be with a single enemy or multiple but saveing
after every successfull fight (you got minimum or zero damage) will save your time.

[9] complete the minigames avilable. there's one in the valor ship (shooting game) and another in
"end of days" level(zero g basket ball). the rewards you get (specially the ruby semiconductor and the power node)
will definitly help you.

[10] drag teniticals must be fight with plasma cutter only. you need to shoot about 10 shots to the yellow node.
the line gun in this case is too slow.

[11] sell stuff you don't need. i have played the game with plasma cutter, line gun and flame thrower.
so any other ammo,semiconductors i get my hands on were selled at the store.in the level <> i have selled the flame thrower.
never sell stasis packs.

[12]explor every where. this is the only way you can get your hands on to all the power nodes and other stuff avilable in the
game.

[13] when you retrive the maker for the first time ,do the following to avoid unneccsary fights. onec the room is clear of enemies move the marker to the middle usign kenisis.
now just take a one step in the middle ramp.a tentical will appear. just stay where you are and fire to that yellow area (just like the drag tentical). if you have done the
stepping thing correctly it will never hit you nor it will never go down to hide. as soon as its destroyed, move to the middle of the middle ramp and use kenisis to move the marker
to the other side.
