Previously reported edit of "proto" file for direct access to changing character values can be used in Macintosh version following these directions:

Select AoE 3 icon. Right click (or control-click) and from popup menu select "Show package contents"
Follow path to
Contents: Resources: GameData: data: proto.xml
Right click file proto.xml and select
"Open With:" from the next pop-up select "Other"
then search for TextEdit

Find directions for editing your player file elsewhere. There are plenty of guides.
