If ypu use the name "ALPHA" link will appear with two white sords which means its harder that with the name "ZELDA" where link appears with one whits sord. when you head for level one the first dungun the eagle level one in the tree door thingy an old man will appear instead and will say GO WEST TO BEGIN YOUR JOURNY"

ive beaten the game about 900 times , i know where everything is and every secret, ask if u wanna know something

HEY duda I had the same problem but the red ring and the silver arrows are in level 9 the red ring is in the top right corner you have to bomb to get it the silver arrows are in the top left corner level 9 takes a while but is beatable later
