To be able to launch weapons, who's only default way of going is forwards (shells and bombs), backwards you press and hold down on the directional pad then press the L button to shoot the item backwards.

To be able to launch weapons, who's only default way of going is backwards (banana skins and cubes), forwards you press up on the directional pad then press the L button to shoot the item forwards. You have to be careful though and make sure you don't accidentally end up running over your own banana skin if you shoot it forward though.

Hello there fellow nerdies!

I have a question about 'weapons' and wonder if anyone could help me out?

The default way of launching shells and bombs seems to be forwards while the only way to use banana skins and cubes is to leave them behind you.

However, my opponents are able to launch shells and bombs backwards (particularly useful if you are in 1st position and have picked up a green shell!) and also to throw banana skins and cubes in front of them.

Pray tell, how, oh how can I do this?!

Fido I think this should answer your first question.
Q:How do you get speed boosts at the beginning of race as well the power slide turbo boosts?
A:It is quite simple my canine-named friend, in order to attain the beginning race boost, you must hold the button at the exact right time. If you hold it too soon, you will not get it, and if you hold it too long, you will burn out.
You have to hold it at the right time. I would recommend right when the 2 starts to get bigger and disappear.

To get power slide boosts you must do the following:

1. When approaching a turn, you press and hold the R button when turning.
2. While power sliding, you repeatedly alternatedly press left and right on the d-pad until your sparks on your tires turn red. Release the R button and voila, you have achieved a power slide boost. It is easy as pie.
