The collisions led to a period of stagnation and violence, until a third meteor strike proved to be a blessing. After investigating, the few remaining scientists discovered that the "meteor" contained technology previously unknown to man. Realizing that the owners of this ship would eventually come looking for it, the world stopped its violence & came together for a common cause.
