Amy, don't worry! Some characters seasonally leave town. Although, cirtain characters leave if the town doesn't suit them (like Basil will leave in the winter or if there aren't enough trees). All characters eventually come back, though.

2 get clay u need 2 go 2 level 2 in the moonlight cave.Use your hoe and start digging with it and you should get a bunch of good clay and even some potanta roots. Also look 4 squares that flash in a gliching way, they will give you a guarenteed hole 2 the next floor like the hole on level one.I hope this helps!
